Kiwanis Club of the Rockies

When the Kiwanis Club of the Rockies was founded in 1973, it was meant, at that time, to attract younger men. It was also to be more of a social and not quite so structured organization. This feeling has carried
on, however, our current membership of approximately 35 is mostly middle aged and we now have several women in our organization. We are proud to announce that we have recently had the son of one of our members join Kiwanis Club of the Rockies. This marks our first ever father/son membership.

Kiwanis is truly a service organization. In our case we focus heavily on our local community. Keeping in mind the major emphasis of Kiwanis which is "Young Child - Priority One", we do several fundraising projects to help the children of Greeley and Weld County.
  • We organize a scramble golf tournament every spring to raise two to three thousand dollars for C.A.R.E. which is a child advocacy agency and is part of United Way.
  • We work hard selling concessions at the annual Greeley Independence Stampede for two weeks around the 4th of July. The money we raise goes to our general benevolent fund and is allocated throughout the year to many different causes, most relating to children and the local school system. We are able to award two to four $500 scholarships every year to area seniors who are members of the two Key Clubs we sponsor.
  • For the past several summers we have organized a Kiwanis/Weld Food Bank car show. We raise money and gather canned food donations. We usually raise at least $1,000 and several hundreds of pounds of food for the Weld Food Bank based in Greeley.
We also sponsor a Christmas party for anywhere from 30 - 60 children of all ages who are associated with the Partners organization. We meet at a local movie theater for a first run movie and refreshments. After the movie, Santa Claus pays a visit and hands out gifts to all the children attending. Our members and the kids have a great time!

We meet every Friday at noon for lunch and a meeting with a variety of programs and speakers. We've also been known to have club picnics for our member's families, bus outings, and exciting banquets.

We're proud of the many things we've done to enhance our community and we think the size of our organization is conducive to many long lasting friendships and business relationships. Kiwanis Club of the Rockies is always welcoming new members who wish to enrich their lives by serving their community.
